I only removed an onetime corkboard off the wall and found all the quondam adhesive squares left from when I tried to stick the corkboard pieces to the wall directly equally a teenager.

These are from some cocky-adhesive pads from a Quartet corkboard set up. Probably about 5 years former. I don't remember if the paint holds up to scrubbing or not, but nosotros are in a rental so whatever fashion to get it off without damaging the pigment is perfect.

Heat will be your best friend here! Try using a hairdryer with some sort of plastic scraper and slowly piece of work the adhesive off the wall. If you have a estrus gun that may piece of work better simply a hairdryer should work only fine

Depending on the paint job, I think even the plastic scraper might be too harsh.
